Fashion shows are part of the learning experience of a student who has chosen a career in fashion design. This practical exposure helps students develop their individual skills, creativity and knowledge of the subject.

Being a vast subject, fashion design has so much to learn. A lot comes with experience and exposure. Right from understanding about fibres to an in-depth knowledge of fabrics, a designer must know all of it. This knowledge is the one that helps a designer to give the right cut, stitch, pattern and fall while constructing a garment.

The Hamstech Fashion Show is an event that has been successful from the time of its inception. It is that time of the year when every student is seen working with dedication and zeal in preparing their collection to display in the show. Students from the fashion designing stream participate in Hamstech Institute’s Annual Fashion Show by showcasing their best collections.

 

 

Hamstech Fashion Show 2017 witnessed a total of 31 collections of which 7 were chosen as the best of 2017. The collection “Ebony Marquetry” won the “Most Glamorous” award title.

 

 

The collection takes its inspiration from the timeless motifs of the Indo-Portuguese Box. The inlaid carvings of the floral patterns encompassed by circles and spirals form a complex flowery design. The use of block print on fabrics such as Kora Chanderi, tissue silk and cotton silk enhances the beauty of the collection. The collection has ethnic wear such as sarees, blouses and anarkalis in dark colours. The dominant colours used were dark brown, orange and beige.

The student designers behind this collection included, Ritu Bothra, Deepika Bothra, Bhavana.G, Shradha Agarwal, Jeel Shah and Ummadi Sreelatha. Every student put in their effort which was guided by Hamstech’s celebrity mentor, Mrs. Neeta Lulla.

 

 

Some of the must-haves from the collection include the orange Angrakha with gold block print at the border and the beige saree with dark brown border adorned with gold block print. The fabric used is soft, comfortable and suitable for every occasion.
